PROFILE OF TOKOROZAWA MÄNNERCHOR

Tokorozawa Männerchor (hereafter referred to as TMC) was formed in Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan, in January 1987.
The purpose of the original group was to realize the construction of a “New Fine Concert Hall” in Tokorozawa, and the members embarked on their mission with the rallying call “Tokorozawa de Daiku wo!” (Let’s sing Symphony No.9 in Tokorozawa!)
.

Not long after the establishment of TMC, we held our first concert at a Public Hall of Tokorozawa in June of 1987, and performed before an audience with great success. Since then, TMC has held an annual concert, and in June of 2006 we celebrated our 20th anniversary as a new turning point.

Thanks to regular amateur music events and TMC’s activities throughout the city, the goal of the “New Fine Concert Hall” was finally achieved in 1994. Part of the “MUSE” Tokorozawa Civic Culture Centre, the hall consists of a main hall (2,000 seats), a medium hall (800 seats), and a small hall (320 seats). The main hall (“ARC”) is unique in providing the highest phonogenic efficiency in Japan, and has presented us with a wonderful stage for our concerts since June 1994 (8th concert).

TMC’S CONCEPTS

TMC hopes to promote a variety of local art and cultural activities around Tokorozawa. This ambition has grown from the seed of amateur civilian music activity, “Tokorozawa de Daiku wo!”.

Secondly, TMC wishes not only to deepen the friendship within our group, but also to spread it among domestic and international chorus groups. It is our hope that, through our performances and collaborations with other male chorus groups, we will bring some joy and peace to audiences around the world.
